Vessel Routing

My research focuses on optimal vessel performance in evolving nonlinear wavefield, where information about the surrounding environment is updated in real time and requires vessel to adapt its path to account for upcoming waves. One of the main complexities of the problems arises from the dependence of the constraints and cost function on the location of the agent, the direction it is heading, and time. Additionally, we integrate the system-dynamics to further constrain a feasible path by maximum sharpness of the turn that a vessel can make to add another dimension of reality to our models. These problems studied here have many practical applications, especially in the field of autonomous navigation systems for aerial, ground and sea surface vehicles.
